My backyard project
- Rototilling the future yard area again.
26 April 2008
It has been about 6 months since tilling all the yard. Would be nice if the dirt stayed soft and fluffy. So, more tilling so I can move the dirt around, shape and level the area where the grass will go, and get ready for the next step. Staked out the edge and now I need a bunch of organic material and a trencher. Fun times, fun times.
- Rototilling continues
but what about a pool?
24 August 2008
Half way down with the back yard tilling and then I think, maybe we should just get that pool. Of course the section of yard I would put it in is the part I have already tilled, but heck, we may just stick with a full on garden. Three of our neighbors (who we have a shared fence with - I am thinking a gate would be nice!) have pools and all of them are nice people.
We spend a little time looking into the feasibility of a pool, the kids would love it as would we.
- Rototilling the Backyard.

Started a few days ago and let me tell you, I am not very far. It is a decent size back yard and the ground is hard and dry. And yes, I did follow the advise of my father-in-law and wet the grounds first. It is more work than I thought. I did buy the rototiller which I am glad I did - renting would have cost me more for sure considering the time it it taking me. Plus, I am sure to get ongoing use out of it.
I have planned the back yard with Punch! software. I recreated my plot, house, and yard with it which wasn't as fun as I thought it would be from looking at all the demos. I have used the software to plan sprinklers but may just send in the plans to Rainbird who offer a free sprinkler plotting service.
